My simple advice to those that read this
[letter] is the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him):
"The relationship of the believer with another
believer is like (the bricks of) a building — each
strengthens the other." He (peace be upon him)
illustrated this by interlacing the fingers of both his
hands.
If today you do not speak out against
the injustices that are being perpetrated against your brothers
and sisters under the name of the so-called 'war on terror',
tomorrow it could be you in Belmarsh. It could be you in
a sound-proof cell. It could be you 'losing it'. Fahad Hashmi
has gone. Soon it may be Abu Hamza, Babar Ahmad, Khalid
al-Fawwaz or Haroon Rashid Aswat, and the list may get very
big yet.
Allah will ask each and every one of us,
what did you do to stop their unjust extraditions? What
did you do for your imprisoned brothers and sisters? Sitting
in restaurants over chicken and Pepsi saying "it's
sad what's happening to so-and-so" is not good enough.
It's not good enough to bury our heads in the sand, hoping
all this will go away.
At the very least one can write to brother
Fahad Hashmi, encouraging him to be patient and to let him
know his brothers and sisters have not forgotten him. If
you are one of those who have become so petrified due to
the political climate that is prevailing around us, that
you cannot speak out against the wrong you are witnessing
against your fellow Muslims, then please make dua for your
brother Fahad Hashmi and those that are in similar situations.
This is the least you can do.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
"....And there is no Muslim who assists his Muslim
brother in a situation in which his status is belittled
or his honour violated except that Allah will assist him
in a situation in which he likes to be helped."
We make dua that Allah keeps his [Fahad's]
heart firm upon his deen and that Allah gives him the ability
and strength to be firm against whatever they plot and plan
against him. Ameen.
Your brother,
Omar Khyam
